4 Hours of Classroom Instruction
Receive instruction on the following topics:
- Maui County Rules and Regulations
- Gun Safety Rules
- Range Safety Rules
- Operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
- Ammunition education and selection
- Selecting a pistol
- Gun Storage
- Pistol inspection and maintenance
- The Fundamentals of Shooting
- Training for how to load, fire, and unload revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.
2 Hours of Range Time
- Live-fire qualifications shooting a .22lr revolver and a semi-automatic pistol.
- Range time is supervised and guided by an NRA Ranger Safety Officer and Instructor.
Upon course completion, you will receive a certificate of completion and affidavit verifying successful completion of firearm training provided by a qualified firearms instructor. This affidavit is required to apply for a permit to acquire a handgun with the Maui Country Police Department or the Honolulu Police Department. The affidavit can also be used to apply for a permit to acquire rifles.
